Job Title: State Director – Pennsylvania, National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

 The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) represents small businesses in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. and is dedicated to leveling the playing field with Big Business, Big Government and Big Labor in every key area – taxes, healthcare, regulations and more.

The State Director will be responsible for overall management of NFIB’s public policy and political programs and integrally involved in member activism and communication programs in the State of Pennsylvania. This role serves as the NFIB media spokesperson and promotes NFIB awareness through speeches and events. The Director will also act as the state legislative leader and in statewide coalitions and is responsible for major fundraising efforts within the state.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Communications or related field or equivalent
  • 8 to 10 years of work experience in lobbying, public affairs or association management, plus advanced management training
  • Staff supervision experience
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to attract, develop and retain a first-class team
  • Working knowledge of the legislative process, member outreach and budget management
  • Ability to provide overall strategy and vision to ensure continuity
  • Ability to meet and/or exceed productivity and quality standards
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiating skills
  • Superior communication and public presentation skills
  • Ability to collaborate with department leaders to implement best practices and programs to enhance member experience and member retention
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; basic knowledge of database software
  • Ability to travel throughout the state frequently
